Resolved Question: Clicking sound on stereo and sound leakage?

I have a Yamaha HTR-5140 AV receiver. I recently noticed a clicking sound on the right speaker. The clicking sound disappears when I turn the volume knob all the way up (when I'm not playing anything of course). Another problem I noticed is a sound leakage between the different input sources. For example, when I set the receiver to TV/Video input, if I turn the volume high enough I can hear the radio playing. Any ideas?thanks for the answers. I should have added that I'm currently not using the receiver for home theater, just music. I tried taking the dash off to check my 4wd selector and the top left of the dash stayed popped out so i stopped messing with it. Then i looked on a web site that their is two screws under the radio on top of the a/c and heater selector knobs. I took those out and i still couldnt take it off. I have been digging around and found that u have to apparently take the radio out. If so how do you do this without buy the special Ford tools. Thanks! more

I got it from ebay, seller assured me it was working. The radio all works fine apart from when I key up, only the signal goes through, not my voice. I can be shouting as loud as I can into the mic and nothing. I have tried a different mic and same problem. There is no mic gain knob on this. That's the 1st thing I checked. Voting Question: Car radio broken. Please Help.?

I have a 1992 Buick Regal that is having some electrical problems. I got the thing from a family members estate a year ago, and the radio was dead then. Basically, the clock is frozen at 1:00, the radio comes on but no sound comes out and you cannot adjust the volume or frequency (channel). The only functional radio knobs are the balance and fade (which obviously does me no good). More recently (i'd say a few months), none of the entire lights work. The dash still lights up, but that's it. the main light doesn't come on when i open the door and the vanity mirror lights never come on. I know the interior lights are probably just a fuse, and i'm not all too considered about that issue. But, I recently ditched my gas guzzler and started driving this thing on my long commute to work. It's a very comfortable highway cruiser, i just wish i had radio. can anyone help? more

I was on a driving my date to the movie theatre last night night after we had dinner at a nice mexican restaurant near my house. While were going down the road, I reached for the radio to change the station and I have one of those radios where if you push the station changer knob, it turns the radio off. Basically, I accidentally turned the radio off by accident. This made the inside of the vehicle totally silent without notice and it was at that time that I heard a little pop from her side of the vehicle that sounded like a muffled belch or something. It took me a second to realize what happen, then I realized it, she had farted. I then laughed trying to ease the tension and I asked her if she ate something that disagreed with her and she got all mad saying that the car seat was noisy and she didn't do anything. I said, it definitely wasn't me and that I could tell by the smell that it was a fart. She then insisted I take her home because she had already seen the movie. I drove to the theatre anyways and she refused to get out of the vehicle. I had no choice but to take her home. This was Friday night and she won't return any of my phone calls, I left several messages for her today on her cell phone which she is not answering because she has Caller ID and she knows its me calling. Can someone give me some advice on how to get her to talk to me again? more

I had a pioneer radio that lit up green. It wasn't too fancy it played cd's mp3's and had a green background behind the volume knob and white letters on the led display. Resolved Question: Help! Honda 07 Civic 4d radio is faulty!?

My wife purchased a 2007 honda Civic new in November 06 and now we are on our second factory installed radio. THe first one lost its backlights- and we should have just lived with that, but since it was under warratny at the time, we had it replaced. now the second radio's volume will involuntarily turn down to zero, sometimes the stations will change without prompting and the cd player does not work. I have not tried it with the MP3 player yet but I imagine that it would have the volume problems. it happens when using the radio knob AND the steering controls. Honda will not cover the warranty replacement even though it is the 2nd radio in 3 years! Has anyone else had this problem? Can it be fixed? Should I just scrap that radio and put in a new one? more

Lets see. I have two Kicker 12's that are 800 watt a piece. 400 RMS a piece. I have a 1000 watt amp powering them. When I have my bass on +10 and if i turn the volume up to 26 it starts to distort. Therefore I cant have it that loud. But when I turn the bass back to +2 and turn the knob down on the amp It works good up to around 37 on the volume. How can I get my bass to sound great on the +10 and volume around 37. I can't keep it from getting static;.. I would greatly appreciate any help. My only guess would be a new amp. And one more question,would it make a differnce If I hooked my speakers up to the amp. The only thing I'm wanting here is too get my bass to be able to be used at +10 on low bass through the radio. And the amp to be used at the full level on the knob. Any suggestions? more

I am starting a part-time detailing business in the spring,just to make a few extra bucks.I'm very good at it,I used to detail for a used car place,but we never did it for the public,just our dealer lot cars,so I don't know what I should charge.I can make a car like new.I was thinking maybe 100 bucks.I don't want to short change myself,and I want to be fair to the customer too.I was gonna maybe charge 200-250 bucks for huge vehicles like suburbans and trucks,cause they take twice as long,all the compartments inside,and the vehicle takes twice as long to buff too.Is that fair? I'm gonna do it outta my house,at home.It's gonna be maybe just a couple cars a week.Just to get some extra spending money coming in.I work full-time at a factory 2nd shift,so I could detail during the day.That job has full benefits and good pay and everything,so I don't want to leave that just yet.It pays 12 bucks an hour,but not quite enough left over after paying bills,so I need extra spending money.I don't want a second job at a store or something,where I have to work at least 15-20 hours a week,I want to make my own hours and work at my own leisure.A regular part-time job would conflict with my primary job too much,and if I worked in a store,I'd have to work weekends and holidays.Plus,if I'm gonna have a second job,I want it to be something I like doing.I enjoy cars,and detailing.I would also fix small things,like broken handles,or anything cosmetic.I did one car for a friend,and she had broken radio knobs,missing license plate light,and a couple other things,and I fixed them for her.She was thrilled that I cleaned her car plus fixed all that annoying stuff wrong.I don't think the neighbors would mind if I'm only doing 1-2 cars a week. more

Resolved Question: I am trying to refurbish a old panasonic radio?

My late grandfather had won a Panasonic radio in the 1960's, however after 50 years of use it's a little worse for ware. Things that need to be done: *I either need to replace the on/off switch, or try to make due with the old one, (the old one may have to be macgyverd a little). A long time ago you would turn the on/off knob and feel the switch clicking into different positions, now it just turns. *I am getting static when I turn up the volume control, this could either be a wiring issue or I need to somehow macgyver the knob. * The radio doesn't switch from AM to FM smoothly, so I will have to take out the band selector, and try to clean it out to the best of my ability's. Anyway, if this was any regular radio I would say it's probably garbage bound, however this radio meant something to my grandfather (it has his name and everything engraved in a plaque on the top of the radio. So in other words I cant just give up on it just yet. Yesterday, after cleaning it up, I was finally able to get it to work. However there is allot that needs to be done. Does anyone know the best way to go about bringing a old transistor radio back to life? If possible I would love to have some tips, I only have experience with tube radios.I have a model number It's Panasonic RC - 7240 more

I am a Christian and have never believed in ghosts. On the 30th, before going to bed, I was getting clothes out of the dryer and heard someone banging on something in my back bedroom. Nothing was there. My husband was fast asleep. I just assumed it was the dryer popping or something. That same night, my dog slept with us. She was under the covers and around 5am she jumped up like something scared her and she came and cuddled up by me. She's usually a very sound sleeper. I fell back asleep and about 10 minutes later, our shower radio came on. We have the kind that you have to turn the knob to power it on, then the volume gets higher as you turn the knob. We were all very much asleep. That's when I was a little freaked out. We packed up and headed out of town with some friends last night for NYE and went to bed around 2am. The phone started ringing in the room around 5am. It only rang a couple of times but as soon as we were going to answer it, they hung up. I know all this stuff could be a coincidence, but what about my radio? Around 4 and 5am for the past couple months, I've also had my cell phone screen light come on for no reason. I leave it on my bedside table and it is only supposed to come on when you hit a button. It's been coming on for no reason, while we're both asleep. I may try and use a video camera tonight. haha. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm a little freaked out. If it is a ghost, does it sound like a bad one?Yeah, my husband knows about it and agrees that something is going on, but he doesn't care. I'm just a very curious person which is why I'm interested in it.So, you're saying it could be a bad ghost? I was thinking maybe a dead family member or something...Also, we are the first owners of my house, which is in a 3 year old neighborhood. Voting Question: How to get rid of stastic noise on volume when radio turned on?

I have a replica old time radio...It has a circirt type motherboard it it.. But I haven't used in 5yrs or more.. So now when I turn it on, it makes very load crackling noises in the speakers. It's like stactic noises. But it stops..But If I turn the volume knob it does it again.Does someone know how to stop this?? I thought I'd try WD-40 spray..Hoping it might stop. I was driving my 1991 GMC Jimmy 2 nights ago, and hit a pothole. When I hit it, my radio, dashlights, and tail lights all went out. Very odd. My warning lights on my dash do work though, just not the lights behind the speedometer, temp gauge etc. So I replaced the fuses for all 3, but no luck. I checked the grounds at my tail lights, and they are all secured and grounded. I am at a loss of ideas. The radio does not power on, however if I turn the volume knob to the right, static comes through the speakers louder and louder. So it is getting some kind of power? I had my windshield wipers on, and it was almost like I could hear them in the static, coming from the speakers. Very bizarre. As it is right now, I am driving home at night with my hazards on from work, just to make things safe for other drives. My hazards and headlights do work. Any ideas?It is factory standard radio. more

in here. All in one week. First, when my husband was taking a shower when he heard a whistle in the shower. No radio on at the time. (fyi we have a little radio in our bathroom.) No kids at the time. Next day I finished taking a shower no kids no radio on at the time. Nobody in the house at both times. That same day my husband was talking to me and passing me at the same time but he stops talking cause he started doing something and I'm thinking he was still talking to me but in a whisper type of way. so I turned around and asked him what did he say , turns around and says he didn't say anything to me or that he wasn't talking but i swear I heard somebody whisper in my ear and it wasn't him. The day after that I'm putting on my makeup on the floor. My husband was taking a shower and my son was sitting next to me. All of sudden I see somebody or something walking next to me I just stared at it wondering what the h**l was that? I left it alone. The next day I was on the bed playing on the comp. My husband and brother in law were watching T.V. the door open and the glass door was shut with the lock on. He said that it sounded like somebody was to open the glass door with force but there was no wind out that night. Well, what happened to me last night I completely freaked out cause I had enough of it. I'm cooking and all of sudden I see a shadow walking right in front of me. I thought it was somebody walking behind me but nobody was there. I stared at it and didn't know what to do till I finally snapped out of it and ran like a little girl to my husband. What do think is going on? Is my house haunted? (Door knobs moving, light turns on and off, the fan on and off, footsteps in my living room. hearing the pots and pans moving, see somebody walking into the kitchen and nobody is there.) And much more. I don't know if something is following me I've been having experience since I was 13 yrs. old and Im tried of it. What can I do? more

Resolved Question: Detailed steps on how to land accurately via ILS? (X-Plane Airliner, iTouch)?

Just got X-Plane Airliner for my iPod touch. I've been struggling (though doing a bit better) with respect to landing especially in terms of getting right on the runway. I've inputted the radio frequency for the runway, and I've got the glideslope and CDI on the HSI. Is there any way to have autopilot align center with the runway by itself given the CDI and glideslope? I've also started tinkering with the OBS knob, but it seems to me that all it does is turn the green CDI on the moving map and not really do anything afterwards (like steer the plane on the heading for example). It's also somewhat hard to choose a proper magnetic heading when the tip of the green arrow is way far from the circular graduation of the gyro. How should I be using the OBS? Any help appreciated. my dad has this old turntable and when i try to play a record it is really really staticy. it has static even when i switch over to cassette or radio tuner. the static is so bad when i move the volume knob around sometimes the speakers will mute, sometimes theyll be ok and the static will go away for a few seconds. can this be a problem with the amp? is this fixable? i would really like to fix this because its a very nice system more

Resolved Question: Guitar Making Humming Noise?

Hi, I have a Schecter Omen 6 guitar and a Line 6 Spider III 75 watt amp. When I plug in the guitar to the amp, it makes this really loud humming noise on the amp. The weird thing is that it's not white noise or radio fequencies since the guitar has humbuckers. From time to time, the guitar doesn't make this noise, but lately it has. The noise also goes away when I grab the knobs (volume) and it increases when using the toggle switch that switches through the pickups (not sure what its called) I'm guessing it's a cable that is messed up (maybe the ground) but I really wouldnt know how to fix it. Anyways, any help, info, or suggestions is/are appreciated. Thanks.By the way: the noise is at its highest when its with distortion. Also, what is the 'pot'? Im not very good with guitar parts.One more thing, I just moved my guitar from my room to the living room and the humming stopped. Could it be that the electronics are making the humming noise? My 85 Chevy c10 should have at least these 4 wires under the dash: +12 Volt Ignition Wire Yellow Headlight Dimmer Wire Gray Ground Wire Black +12 Volt Battery Wire Orange However the Orange wire is missing in action, the previous stereo that was in the truck was functioning just fine but it was an old dual knob radio, so for my new JVC would it be fine to run a wire directly to the battery to make up for the lack of the orange 12v constant? more

Voting Question: Can I get a portable cd player hooked up in my car- a 2000 Ford Taurus? Is it possible?

I wanted to get a detachable car stereo for my car from best buy, but the tech guy said it couldn't be done if the ac/heater doesn't have the knobs and you just adjust the temperature by buttons. He said I had one of the few cars that you can't even take out the radio part and install a car stereo into. He said that I could hook a cd changer up in the trunk, then hook something else up in the front. And I asked if that was going to be easy, and he said I probably didn't want to do that. But I don't understand why you can't install a detachable cd player in the car cause the radio part does have screws on the side to where it looks like it can be done. So now I'm wondering if you can put a portable cd player and hook it up somewhere in the front. Can you hook a portable cd player to any car? And please, no responses from the radio is just fine to listen to. I live in a small town with the stations I like to listen to are fuzzy half the time, and the other half of the time, there is no good music on that I want to listen to. All I want is to be able to listen to my own music, my own cd's- burned cds. So I would want the cd player to be CDR/cd-rw compatible. So anybody know? Can you hook a portable cd player up in this car? I don't really want to do it through the cigarette lighter if that's the only option cause it said in the owner's manual of the car, not to hook anything up from the cigarette lighter. Can this be done without messing with the cigarette lighter or messing with the wiring? Resolved Question: Car factory radio volume issues?

I have a 95 dodge stealth, everything is factory in/on it. I've had it for nearly 3 years. It is a fm/am radio with tape deck. I had been listening to my iPod w/ a tape thing, that plugs into the iPod, but after a year, the tape would no longer play. I've bought new ones, but they do not work either. Regular audio tapes will play. Also, when listening to the FM radio, it seems my car is possessed! The volume changes on it's own. Mostly, it will go down so low that I cannot hear it, and can't not turn it up anymore. When it does this, it also has quite a bit of static, but it's just as quiet as the music. Randomly, the volume will get super loud, at which point, I can then adjust it with the knob. Is this an electrical problem, antenna problem, or should I just burn my car down?does it sound like something that would be expensive to have fixed? more
