Scrapbooking Event Ideas Questions asked

Resolved Question: What's a cute name for a craft works business.?

So, I'm crafty. I make things. Lots and lots of things. I've been toying around with the idea of starting a business for some time now. So now, what I need help with is this: what do I call myself? What do I name my little business? Some of my ideas so far have been: Stylin' Stitches and Obvious Designs. I've never been really good with coming up with names for things, so I would love some creative ideas. I'm looking for something witty or clever and possibly something that involves the word "obvious" or "obviously." These are the types of things I do: -Floral arrangements -Wreaths -Special Event scrapbooking -Crocheted scarves, baby blankets, hats, etc. -Monogrammed items As soon as I get a name I can look into getting business cards made and really getting this thing off the ground. Thanks! more

Voting Question: What degree should I opt for?

I am in my second year of college and am still wondering what I should major in. I was going to do English because I enjoy literature, writing, and it's something I am 'good' at. Then I changed my mind and thought I should do Biology, but unless I go to medical school or become a nurse, my only options would be teaching. My interests unrelated to education are: cultures and attending different cultural events sewing reading random facts domestic affairs and being 'crafty' hiking and exploring the outdoors/general outdoor activities like rafting, swimming, and enjoying nature personal blogging/journaling/scrapbooking I don't know if those give you an idea of what I like, but based on that, does anyone have any idea of what major I could consider? more

Would you go? How much would you spend? What type of foods would you like to see for your kids?yeah Ben I know men dont scrapbook lol- thats for the ladies- for both I'd have card playing nights, book clubs...things everyone seems to want to do via a suggestion box.Artie- I am in Massachusetts! 8 0 )Cindy- for sure there'd be changing tales in the mens room.. its one thing i believe should happen EVERYWHERE! Plus....Dunkins doesnt even hace any changing tables which is a damn shame since we go every single sunday.... if he needs a change we have to go to babiesrus after more

Resolved Question: I need fun ideas for a scrapbooking page on my abortion clinic visit. Ideas?

I'm totally into this scrapbooking thing right now, and I want to scrapbook major events in my life thus far. My abortion was pretty big, so I am devoting a page in my scrapbook to it. Resolved Question: My husband and Valentine's Day?

I'm asking this again because I asked this morning, and all I got was answers from people being mean! Anyway Valentine's Day is coming up. I have my present all planned for my husband. I got him tickets to his favorite sporting event, and I arranged for him to meet his favorite sports player before the game, and to tour the locker room with him! However my husband has been a total jerk when it comes to Valentine's Day for me! Anyway he suggested going to a ski lodge for a night, which I thought was a GREAT idea. The reason Valentine's Day is so important to me, is because he has been away on business for most of the first year of our marriage. It's the only holiday he's been home for, and he'll have to leave shortly after! I just want to make V Day a really good memory for both of us to remember while we're apart again, you know? People earlier were acting like I am a money grubbing gift grabbing wife and I'm NOT, I just want him to put some effort into it and show some thought. But the ski lodge idea was great, and I told him I LOVED it! Then out of nowhere he drops the idea, and I was totally disappointed. He told me it was "too much money" but I handle the money, and I know that it's not. We have 0 money problems, and we are well off (again, NOT about the money, I'm just saying, we can definitely afford it). So then he starts looking at jewelery for me, which I guess was sweet, but personally I like to pick my own jewelry because I feel really bad if my husband picks something and it's not my style and I just don't want him to waste his money. Guys are not always good at picking out jewelry. But what really bugged me was that it was MORE expensive than spending the night at the ski lodge. WTF, he just said that was too expensive?! So I tried to get at the bottom of why he didn't want to go to the ski lodge anymore, and he just won't tell me. It's a jerk move to say you're going to do something with your wife then just say no out of nowhere. So then he started looking around at other gifts, and he SERIOUSLY suggested a LITTER BOX?! The other stuff he suggested was all ripped from a generic Amazon "suggested Valentine's Day gift list." That is not romantic or sentimental at all. I am just the kind of person that I think it's the thought that counts, and he's not putting any thought into this at all. If he spent like $20, got a scrapbook, and scrapbooked with me, or even just watched a movie with me while I did it, made a card, or something that showed he was THINKING OF ME, I would be happy. But he's not doing any of that. He's suggesting jewelry I don't want, a litter box, gifts that don't mean anything, etc. I'd be happy if he planned a nice date out like to where we had our first date, or breakfast in bed, or something. He's all excited about his present but he couldn't care less about mine, and I'm at the point where I don't even want to give him his gift anymore. He won't do the 1 idea of his that I really liked. I suggested scrapbooking, making a card, or planning a nice date like I said here, and he just blows it off. I want to know what gives here, and I do NOT want to be accused of being selfish or high maintenance or greedy. Like I said I don't care WHAT the gift or outing is just that is has some SENTIMENT behind it. I support him while he's away doing his business and I work hard back at home to keep everything together with the house and I work as well, and I think that I do deserve for him to show that he's thought of me and I don't think it's too much to ask or it's high maintenance. It's frustrating to me because I KNOW he is trying to come up with SOMETHING for Valentine's Day. He is TRYING. But he does NOT seem to get that it's the thought that counts and that it was means the most, and he does NOT like the things that I suggest, such as agreeing with the ski lodge for a night, a scrapbook, or something like that. :( No jerks answering this time, please.I have suggested stuff like breakfast in bed, a bubble bath together, going to where we had our first date... he won't!!! I've suggested personal and sentimental things... no go!!! He won't do the one idea he suggested that I liked!!! I'm not going to plan my own date or buy my own gift! There is NO MEANING in that, and I would rather have NOTHING than that.I HAVE talked to him... I communicated with him a lot... I told him that first of all I'm really hurt that he suggested something then refused to follow through with it... I've suggested a number of really simple things he could do... like a scrapbook or cooking dinner or something like that... and he just DOES NOT LISTEN! Why are men like that?!?!You guys are not even understanding... he is asking me what to get or to do... and I tell him but then he WON'T DO IT. So why does he even ask? It's not like I'm bugging him by shooting down all of his ideas. He asks me for ideas, I give them, and he refuses. WTF is that about? Why ask if you're not going to take any input? more

Resolved Question: How can I do scrapbooking and be proud of it?

I like the idea of scrapbooking but I hate the way my pages turn out. Now I won't scrap anymore. I am now trying to break that and print pics and look for coordinating materials but I dont feel proud of my photos or the way I arrange my photos on the page, or the way I designed the papers and embellishments on my page. I have taken scrapbooking classes before but they never taught us how to make a picture coordinate wiht your page--we never used pictures, they just taught me design. I have looked for this kind of class but could not find it. Besides not appreciating how the page turns out, in the beginning I don't like my photos. When it comes to photos of me or for my own events, I don't capture moments--people take pics of me smiling and that's it. I take pics of everything else. i can get someone else in a good moment like kissing their husband or doing silly things, but I am critical of those pics too b/c i feel they are not technically correct in the way I took them. I know I am very critical but I just look at my pages and they look juvenile, not like an adult made them with love like the way i see friends make them. How can I conquer these issues? more

Resolved Question: how to increase my scrapbooking business?

i have been an "independent consultant" for a direct marketing scrapbooking company. i am NOT a sales-y type person, and since very few of my friends are already into scrapbooking, it's difficult for me to get business. i've started to think of quitting, but in a last-ditch effort have done minor paid search advertising. (i have a company-provided online presence, but they do not allow you to choose your own keywords or direct traffic to your site for free, outside of your existing customer base.) i've gotten a few nibbles from this, but not enough to justify the expense. i've also tried holding more crops and events for my customers, but so far, no one has come. i'm looking for some good "warm call" ideas or ways to reach scrapbookers - without lots of investment. any ideas out there? more

We usually ask each class to work around a theme. I'm looking for some new theme ideas...in the past we've used movie night, game night, Shabbat dinner, etc. as some themes. This yr. I thought of scrapbooking, bathtime/skin care....any ideas? more

Resolved Question: Would you attend a scrapbooking weekend?

I am thinking of starting a scrapbooking weekend retreat business. It would be a service where scrapbookers can stay in a luxury hotel and have 24 hour access to scrapbooking with free make & takes and an on-site store. There would be great meals, treats, prizes, goodie bags, etc. I am wondering if people are interested in this and what price range scrapbookers would pay. So for example, to stay at a 3star hotel, with assigned scrapbooking space (where your stuff can stay the whole weekend) and free make & takes and say 5 meals. What price range would be appropriate? $150-$200 $200-$250 $250-$300 $300-$350+ This includes your hotel room (double occupancy), goodie bag, 5 meals, scrapbooking space and of course an idea/punch/die cut station and 3 make & takes. Your input is greatly appreciated. I am looking at hosting 50-75 people per event. more
