My best friend is getting married in a few weeks and I am her maid of honor. We have been best friends for about 15 years and have always been very close and so have our families. I was wanting to make her something special for the actual wedding day, but I can't really think of anything. I saw some jewels and craft stuff in walmart today and it got me to thinking about it. Anyone have any ideas???? I know that I definitely do NOT want to make a scrapbook or picture album but I do want it to be something handmade. Resolved Question: Why do you think my actions in this situation are bothering my Boyfriend?

My very best friend since the age of 10 (we are now 23 and 24) just had a baby girl. She is 3 1/2 weeks old. I have gone to see her three times at home since she was born. I am making my bestfriend a scrapbook of her wedding and of the baby so every time I go over I take a ton of pictures. I usually put about 5 up from each session on the computer and tag her in them so she has them and so ppl. can see them, because I am very, very excited about having this little baby in my life! I have a little photo album with her pictures in it and I show ppl. who I think would care, as my family knows her very well and I know her family very well. We are all excited, my Aunt, Mom and Sister in law all bought her gifts for the baby. My boyfriend seems to be quite bothered by this lately. He made a comment to me the other day that I am being a little bit annoying about the baby. He said that I am going to start annoying ppl. with all the pictures. And then last night, I was adding a couple of pics to my facebook and he was like "Before you know it you're going to have 2,000 pictures of her. Can we set a once a month limit of adding the pictures?? It's not like it's your kid. Yeah, she's a cute kid, but c'mon" He said something to that degree. And I didn't really respond. I then asked my Bestfriend if this bothered her and she said no, not at all, she saidshe loves that I lover her baby and I am proud of her! What do you thinkis going on? Is it simply that I am just annoying him or is there more to this? I really don't think it would annoy me if he was excited about his bestfriendhaving a baby?? I don't get it.Since one person who answered felt that I was neglecting my Boyfriend let me make it very clear that when I do go to visit my bestfriend's baby it is when he is at work and I make sur eI am home in time to make him dinner...and he is on the computer far more then I am. more

Resolved Question: Wedding Photography...Less is more? Or do you want more?

We just started our Photography business in 2009, and are sort of re-vamping for 2010. We don't have a studio and usually meet clients where its convenient (house, coffee shop). Currently we bring 2 sample albums (exact replica of what the clients got), and 2 scrapbook albums with prints, and our laptop, which people can see full weddings if they really want too. We're in a the low bracket for weddings, so I think bringing all of this is sort of our way of proving our quality, since our main way of advertising is craigslist, and most people we meet are scared that we're scammers. But now that we have about 20 weddings under our belt, and most of them have left us reviews on weddingwire, onewed. We were thinking of cutting down. Would you want to see that much if you were meeting a photographer? Or would maybe one sample album and the laptop (which has multiple weddings) be enough? Voting Question: Paper scrapbook/album pages?

Where can I find the old style paper scrapbook pages. I don't want the current style pages you see at hobby stores with the plastic page protectors. I plan on putting my wedding card on the pages but still want to be able to open the cards later. I've tried Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Factory Card Outlet. So I'm thinking I might need to move onto online. Anyone have ideas? Look for 12x12 size if possible. more

Okay, so I found a venue I like that costs $6,500 for 75 guests. That is for the ceremony, reception and dinner, centerpieces, cakes and cutting fees, security (which I don't feel comfortable not having for personal reasons), DJ, etc. I have to buy the following things. How much should I look to spend on average? Officiant/Minister Calla Lily bouquets, corsages, boutonniere's (real or silk) Paper for invitations, RSVP cards, and place cards (printing is free) Red/White wine (price per bottle?) What percent of a budget should be spent on the reception, and when I say reception what all is included in that? I mean, I am getting a lot included in that package. My dress is $680 (that is everything but shoes), my hair/nails/makeup should be $160 altogether, I'm doing candy in tulle bags for favors for $40ish, we're spending $400 on rings, probably $35 dollars on the knife and server, and flutes, and I'm creating a wishing tree for roughly $30 in lieu of a guest book because I am going to do a wedding scrapbook with the pictures... and have the tags next to the guests in the album etc. I got some rude answers yesterday saying I was being unrealistc. Now, our budget is $11,500 (I even found a photographer that is only $700 for six hours). That includes the honeymoon, which I don't know exactly when or where we are going, we just want to get away haha. The reception cost ($6,5) is tax AND service included... it is linens, napkins, dishes, dinner, decoration, setup, ceremony, cake, and several extras that are included in the package. Is $6,500 on all of that too much for my budget??I think if I move the date back to November, on a Sunday, they might take off more than just $500. I'm going to do as much as possible myself. I just can't pass up such a nice place with so much included! The fruit tree and chocolate fountain were thrown in dirt cheap at $150. The ceremony is included. She is decorating outside for free. There is a pool table and two TVs for kids and a slideshow!!The photographer and DJ are friends! So I can trust them.I'm also in a heavily populated area. more

Resolved Question: DIY photo wedding guest book... how to keep guests from writing in the photo area of the page?

I bought an 8x8, 24page photo album and plan to use it as my guest book. It's nothing more than 8x8 white sheets of bound scrapbook paper. I'll have a photo taken of each family as they arrive and later print the photos and place them on the proper pages. On each page, the guests will write something to me and my fiance. How do I keep our guests from writing a book or writing so large that I won't be able to add their pic later? Should I draw a 4x6 rectangle on each page and write "do not write" on it? Should I have 4x6 cardboard cutout that my guests can place on the page and write around? Should I have index cards for them to write on and then mount the index cards as well as the pictures later? Any other suggestions? Thanks! more

We have been married nearly a year, and still haven't selected our album :( It is sooo hard to select the photos we want. Our album has 20 pages ~ which will fit 40 photos. Or, if we want a collage style, we can select 65 photos. (This album is flat & glossy, like a magazine ~ not the old fashioned mounted picture album) Anyway, we have narrowed our choices down to 100 ~ still 35 over our limit! :( How many pictures did you lovely brides have? Resolved Question: Where can I get a thick wedding album?

My wife is working on our wedding scrapbook and has one that holds 12" x 12" pages. With the embellishments she's putting on the pages, they're proving to be pretty thick. She did 24 pages in the 12 sleeves, but has at least another 24 pages to go (if not 36), and although the album she got has an expansion kit (12 more pages) the wedding album is very thin and already almost doesn't close. She's afraid if she adds more pages it certainly wont close. Does anyone know where she can buy a thicker album that supports the 12" x 12" pages? Thanks, and any ideas would be appreciated. more

Resolved Question: adding an image to another image. like photoshop!? help anyone that is good at it?

So my girlfriend and I have been dating for a year and a half..I met her when I studied abroad in Japan..and we will be getting married next may, but the problem is I think I went a little too overboard to quick on the gifts and sucked my creative juices dry. I was thinking for her upcoming birthday..getting a here a nice card (of course) and writing her a little sweet note in japanese, making a copy of a tv show that is region free so she can watch it (we both love watching scrubs together), give her a cheesecake mix (she loves it!) and some birthday candles and balloons since I can't be there to celebrate it with her.. I know she likes travel, scuba diving, rabbits, but she is pretty easy going and I'm also kind of broke since i have to save up for our wedding.. she told me that a card is fine, but i still want to do more! Does anyone know what the best way to make an interactive album is? By interactive album, I mean an album where I want to put wedding cards received on the pages that people can open, a double-sided invitation that can be flipped to see the back, etc. I was thinking of just securing one edge with scotch tape, but it looks tacky. Resolved Question: What brand of scrapbooks are best?

I want to put together a scrapbook of pictures from my wedding. I've never scrapbooked before and my sister in law has offered to help me as she is a pro at it and has all the suplies. She asked me to purchase a scrapbook from creative memories because she says they're the best. But the problem is that none of the albums (they all look so plain!) or pages are really my style (they're really frilly and flowery). I found a scrapbook at Michael's that I like and was told that the scrapbooks from Michael's are inferior to creative memories.(and basically a waste of money) So since I have no experience with this I would like to know what all you scrapbookers prefer to use, and if I should just listen to my sister in law and get an album that's not really my style. I think that what my sister in law is trying to say is that quality is more important than style, so I guess I'm all just wondering if that's what you all think too. Thank you! more

The album is pink so low and behold I was in walmart in the wedding section and saw these bed of white rose heads. So I thought I could take her pic of her as a baby in her mother's hand place in the middle of the album and create a border around the pic using the rose heads. So how does this sounds? more

Resolved Question: How to Organize a Scrapbook Album?

I often hear about people creating "theme" albums (for example, to commemorate a trip, a wedding, a baby album, etc.) however, what about if you have ideas for pages that you want to scrap that cannot possibly be made into an entire album and do not share a common theme with any other pages that I make. In my case, some of the ideas I have are to create a page about a bracelet that has special meaning to me, and a page about my worst fears, etc. Should I just put all the pages in one book about myself? What about the fact that the pages don't coordinate (different colors, elements?) I would also like to make an album for my brother, but again, about random stuff (my brother's love affair with his car, his surfer boy image, his hopes and dreams, and the like.) Resolved Question: When you are done scrapbooking an event, what do you do with your extra pictures?

I am just starting to scrapbook my wedding. I have about 200+ candid pictures and over 700 professional pictures. We have a professional album with about 60 or so pictures in it and a regular photo album for the candids. I am wondering what I should do with my extra pictures after I am done scrapbooking. I can't put all of the pictures into the scrapbook and its seems weird to have just the extras in an regular album.
