I've put alot of thought into a new tattoo (and yes it involves stars and i welcome hate from every tattoo artist who is fed up of doing stars but i really like them!) I was looking at the southern cross kind of design (the constellation) but after reading about it, it seems to be some kind of aussie pride design. And obviously, i'm not australian, i'm british. It's really put me off getting it done but i am in love with the simplicity of the design, the beauty of the actual constellation, and like i said, i do like stars. Hey, Im really considering getting the southern cross tattooed somewhere on me. I've always liked the idea of on my pec but not sure... apparently it looks good inside the bicep but I would like to see a pic before I decide on their haha! Also inside wrist apparnetly looks good. About a year ago i decided that i would like to get a tattoo. I had the idea back then that i would like something that will always remind me how lucky i am to live in such a great country (Australia). After all, 1/5 of the worlds population uses 4/5 of the worlds resources. Almost half the population are in poverty. I decided that if in a years time i still wanted a tattoo that symbolizes this then i would go for it. My 18th birthday is looming closer and after months of searching the net i still am yet to find a design i like. -Some details I want the tattoo on the inside of my bicep. I originally wanted the southern cross but apparently everybody has it these days, however if i can't find anything else i really like then i will go for this. I'm very open to all suggestions however i would not like to get the Australian flag, emblem or union jack. Thank you in advance! more

Why show your Australian pride by a star constellation (that is seen in most countries in the Southern Hemisphere)? I don't mean to sound ignorant, I mean I know the constellation is in our flag (duh). But can't they choose something else? Like a kangaroo or anything that is 100% Australian? So its my birthday soon, turning 16 and my mum and dad have allowed me to get a tattoo. I was wondering whats a good place to get one. I'm considering Navy OCS, will this tattoo on my upper left shoulder violate current Navy policy concerning tattoos and render me ineligible? The tattoo is not visible unless I'm shirtless, it does not contain ANY racial or extremists on it; it is only the Navy Jack (Southern Cross) It's simply a representation of my geographical heritage and the pride it engenders.
