I didn't even know I had one, but its huge, and it's embarassing. I've been using HL30, or Herpecin L. I was just wondering if there were any natural, nonexpensive way to get rid of one. I heard you should get a cotton ball soaked with apple cider vinegar and put it on for 30 mins. Is that true? Thankss! more

How likely is it that this is a correct diagnosis?The doctor only shined a flashlight on my lips and told me thats what it was but the week before he told me it was a cold sore and he had given me somethng and it didnt work so i went back and now he has prescribed me valtrex to take which i havent started yet bc i forgot to pick it up from the pharmacy.I have never had a cold sore in my life or anything on my lips or anywhere else for that matter.Now all the sudden there are little tiny bumps on the sides of my lips that keep coming and going and under my bottom lip its all cracked and sore and really painful..I have to keep vaseline on it but anytime i put somethng on it liquid comes out..Clear liquid..Its not a lot but enough to be annoying..Otherwise its really dry and painful..No sores or anything.....im asking for a blood test to see if it is that..Does anyone think it is?Its been like this for about 2 months now and gets better than worse,better than worse..I have tried chapstick,blistex,herpecin L,abreva,vaseline and nothing helps so far....I have been with the same person for 5 years..my husband so i couldnt have gotten it from someone else..I have no other symptoms but that. more

have had this going on for about a month now and im really frustrated at this point.I have these little bumps on my top and bottom lip that have clear liquid coming out of them although it only seems to happen when i put vaseline or chapstick on my lips and they only get inflamed when i itch them..it doesnt come out all the time..and there itchy and then they get sore..There real little..You almost cant see them..I asked the doctor and he said its a cold sore but its on both lips so i dont know how it could be and ive never heard of a month long cold sore..He gave me meds to take and they havent helped at all yet!!!!! Now instead of the little bumps my lips are all cracked and burning almost like there chapped,only more painfull...I have tried chapstick,vaseline,herpecin L,the medicated stuff in the little tiny tan jar..I dont know what else to do..I cant see a dermatologist for about a month since there so booked where i live..What is this and how do i get rid of it!!!!!! Ive never had any problem with my lips in the past..I have never had a cold sore in my life and neither has anyone in my family..I didnt catch it from kissing either which i hear is possible..Im married and have been with the same person for 5 years..So i dont know?When i put vaseline on it though its does help and then it gets all dried up and my lips start to peel and i have never heard of herpes doing that! okay so im not soo sure but for the most part i think i got a cold sore.. its on the corner of my lips both corner and a couple boil looking things on my lips.. their not big. but they ITCH A LOT and for some reason the corner of my lips are kinda swollen. So my question is, after thinking so much how could i have gotten if i didnt kiss any random person or shared anything, i remember that on sunday i hung out with my friends that i usually hang out every weekend or so.. and that day we were smoking hookah and for that we were sharing the pipe and all and thats all i can think about sharing something.. the next day i start getting this itch on my lip.. now yesterday my gf said it might been this friend because her and my gf are best friends and she told she has had cold sore's before.. so i said why is it that i got it and u didnt get it... because me and my gf were smoking it from the same hose/pipe. and she said that it could of been because my lips had a cut or were chapped and had a cut? can this be true? I also didnt see any cold sore's on her that day otherwise i wouldn't have shared anything with her, but can you still get it even though she didnt have it that day but she has had it before? Also im using HERPECIN L as medicine to cure it, its a chapstick type thing and i put it on every hour or and cover it and clean it up.. but after a while idk if its the chapstick or the cold sore but i get this yellowish scabs looking things on the side of my lips? what is that? and what would happen if somehow i swallow that scab by mistake? do you guys know a faster way to cure this?this is my first time having it.. so im kinda paranoid lol, its kinda gross. and can u recommend me another over the counter medicine that has work wonders.. or at least stop the itching.yea def. none of that stuff.. i don't want it to get worse but ill try that medicine you have told me and see if its better.. Just curious though, if you have a cold sore and you "go down on a girl" can that be turn from a cold sore into genital herpes which is BAD? - not that i have done it.. just curious and want to know more

Resolved Question: Regular sunscreen instead of lip balm?

Okay, so tomorrow I'm going to the races with my dad, and him being the idiot that he is decided to go to Mr. Z's instead of Walmart. I needed special sunscreen for my lips, like Herpecin L or something, because I get cold sores on my lips from being out in the sun for too long. I know for a fact that wearing the sun screen on my lips prevents the cold sores from forming. Well needless to say, Mr. Z's didn't have anything that I could use, but we did get regular sun screen for the rest of your body. I do have Blistex though, with an SPF of 15. I'm not sure if that's strong enough though. My question is, is it okay for me to use the regular sun screen on my lips? Will it even work? Or am I doomed before I even walk into the stands? Any help is appreciated! And I need it ASAP! more
