Frozen Shoulder Cortisone Questions asked

Voting Question: Surgery or Cortisone injections?

I have had pain (severe at times) in my shoulder for 3 years now. It kept getting diagnosed as Frozen shoulder, and I worked for along time with a physical therapist, had many pain meds including prednisone, norco, vicodin, oxycodone, and NSAIDS, which I have developed an allergy too. I have tried bayer back and body, tylenol and icy hot, patches. I finally got insurance and had an MRI it seems i have a tear of the rotator cuff, and "bruising in the bone marrow" of the shoulder. I saw an ortho with results in hand and she RUDELY said I needed cortisone shots. HELL no..... Is it too much to expect the doctor to want to FIX it and not keep just giving these shots which btw are painful and do NOTHING!!! I am pretty steamed. I am going to get a second opinion. I just barely jerk it the "wrong" way and its all together the worst pain I have ever had with the exception of childbirth. Should I demand a scope to fix it or go along with shots if he says the same thing she did. My primary md thinks she is too lazy to do the surgery. more

Resolved Question: Shoulder Impingment - HELP - 6 Months of Pain!?

I went to a orthopedic doctor about 3 months ago and he said I had frozen shoulder. I didn't have health insurance so I wasn't able to get a MRI. He gave me a Cortisone Shot which worked for about 6 weeks. After that, it came back. I've had pain now for about 6 months. Before I went to the orthopedic doctor I wasn't able to move my elbow from my side for about 3 months. Now... I can lift my arm very carefully to the side but CAN NOT lift my arm in front. If my palm is down I can only lift it about 8 inches from my leg out in front. If I turn my palm up, I can lift my arm above my shoulder. Also, if I do something that suddenly hurts my arm I feel it all the way down my hand. Through out the day it's livable but it throbs and my hand will occasionally tingle and hurt. I can just barely put my hands on top of my head... but I can do it... just very carefully. What does this sound like? Should I rest it or try to move my arm more? What do I do? I really want this to be over with! I'm only 26 years old and in great health. I don't ever really remember doing a "certain event" happening that hurt my arm. At the time of injury I was working out at the gym 3 hours a day. What does this sound like? more

Resolved Question: Anyone had or have painful shoulder?

anyone had or have shoulder problems such as torn rotor cuff, frozen shoulder, tendinitis, etc. that required treatment for pain and range of motion. other then surgery what was any treatments that worked. something like prolotherapy or cortisone shots, etc. physical therapy is highly touted, but never worked for me (only aggravated the pain). thanks for any help on this. more

Resolved Question: My shoulder is in a lot of pain and I need some non-surgical advice?

First of all, what is wrong? My shoulder hurts, especially at night when I am trying to sleep. It has progressively gotten worse and now I am afraid to move it. Is this what they call "frozen shoulder?" Secondly, how do I deal with it? I mean, Advil doesn't seem to help much. It's putting a band-Aid over it, in a way. So, would it be appropriate to go to the doctor and see if I can get cortisone injected into it? more

Resolved Question: ive suffered with a frozen shoulder for many years?

Is there any one out there that has had an operation to help with this problem. Resolved Question: Cortisone Injections for torn tendon/frozen shoulder? ?

I've been diagnosed with a "torn tendon" which may lead to a "frozen shoulder". Doctor has offered a cortisone injection "into joint" to relieve pain and inflammation. Has anyone else had this done and did you experinece any long-term side effects? Was injection effective or did you also need other treatment? Thanks in advance more

Resolved Question: I have a very painful frozen shoulder, a small tear in the shoulder and calcification on a tendon. help?

Resolved Question: Anyone who's had or treated "Frozen Shoulder" - what helps and what doesn't?

This is the absolute worst ailment I've had in my life... MRI called it "muscle impingement w/ tendonosis." Physical Therapy, accupressure, chiropractic - all barely help to restore some range of motion - but then it gets stiff again even w/ home stretches. The cortisone shot made it worse, I'm taking glucosamine, condroitin, MSM, advil, but I've had this for 2 months now, still hurts, still stiff. HELP!! more

Resolved Question: any doctors on here?

I had roator cuff surgery a year ago, and this past Friday, I had a cortisone shot, after being diagnosed with frozen shoulder a month ago, and I came home and went to bed after the shot, and woke up three hours later in such horrible pain, and it was swollen so bad that it doubled in size, and I went to the ER and they said it was impinchment, not sure what it means, I was pretty muchout of it after they drugged me all up for the pain, but it is still very swollen and very painful. Any idea's on what this might mean? what could it be? I am supposed to go to my doctor, but they just will not listen to me when I tell them something else is wrong in there, and I just cannot live with this pain anymore, and I only had 70% of my range of motion back as of a year after surgery and months of PT,and work hardening, and now I have almost no range of motion at all, and when I do try to move it, there is excruciatiing pain, and it swells so badly. What else could be wrong? more

Resolved Question: what should I do about my shoulder?

I have had problems with my shoulder for over a year. Sometimes the pain is so bad that I am sick. Although I have been diagnosed with ulcers because I was being sick with blood (had a gastroscopy and no ulcers were found) to me it feels like I'm sick when my shoulder is bad and the blood is bright red so it's just because it's quite violent. I feel a pinching sensation all the time, and then at least once a day intense pain which sometimes travels up my neck or down my spine. If I exercise it, it feels better for a couple of days and then so bad that I cant move it at all. It then freezes up a little. I go to the doctor, they say I have frozen shoulder or a muscle problem and then it starts all over again. I have had cortisone injections, it freed up the movement temporarily, but not fixed the problem. Plus it also made me sick. I'm not sure what to do, they haven't sent me for MRI, the doctors I've seen haven't examined the shoulder or movement, they only go on symptomsi'm not taking pain killers, and the reason i think it's related is that once it starts spreading it gives me like a migraine and that's when i'm sick. I used to be sick with migraines too. I dont think the injection caused all the vomitting, I was vomitting already, but the day I had it I had a strong reaction to it more

Voting Question: Which is better. Cortizoidal or non cortizoidal anti Inflammatory?

I have Frozen shoulder syndrome... Anti Inflammatory's are big help.. which is better steroids or non steroids? Some non steroid (NSAID) like Brufen and Piroxicam have stern warnings against long usage as they can cause sudden death by heart attack, stroke.. Not keen on that idea.. but steroids can cause blindness if you suddenly stop taking them, and need long weaning off periods. whats steroid anti Inflammatories are there besides Cortisone and Prednolostone.. ones without severe side effect possibilitys.. I need tablet form. Thanks more
