Resolved Question: HELP! Girlfriend planning VDAY instead of boyfriend and need help!?
My bf and I switched roles this year and I am planning V-day. I am 23, he is 27...please let me know what you think of this...would you like it? Please be honest. And do I have to buy him a gift too? 1. Saturday night b4 V-day: wine, chocolate and whoopy ;) (we already own the wine and chocolate...it was a gift to us) 2. Sunday Morning: Breakfast: frittata (a type of omlette) baked apples candied bacon coffee 3. Day time activity: (this is what I'm nervous about!) local science museum + planetarium! lol-- my bf and I have reminisced about our childhood memories there and we both exclaimed how awesome the planetarium was...so i thought it would be a good idea (AND its cheap....I originally wanted to take boxing classes or go to a rock climbing gym...but that stuff was way too expensive for me...so $$ is a problem) 4. Dinner on Espanola Way...it's near south beach in Miami...its a quaint old european styled street with shops and restaurants...we'll either eat french or italian, his choice. 5. After dinner.....go to a casual wine bar with live guitar PS-- Do I have to get him a gift too? His mom gave me $100 as a gift to the two of us to spend on dinner...but I'm paying for everything else...and he knows I'm unemployed moreResolved Question: I_AM_BACK; Here's your joke fore today; star if you like, thanks?
Ever wonder why ABCDEF are used to define bra sizes? A - Almost Boobs B - Barely there C - Can Do D - Damn good E - Enormous F - Fake anyways, here's your other joke: On a special teacher's day, a kindergarten teacher was receiving gifts from her pupils. The florist's son handed her a gift. She shooked it, held it over her head, and said, "I bet I know what it is - flowers!" "That's right!" said the boy, "but how did you know?" "Just a wild guess," she said. The next pupil was the candy store owner's daughter. The teacher held her gift overhead, shooked it, and said, "I bet I can guess what it is - a box of candy!" "That's right! But how did you know?" asked the girl. "Just a lucky guess," said the teacher. The next gift was from the liquor store owner's son. The teacher held the bag over her head and noticed that it was leaking. She touched a drop of the leakage with her finger and tasted it. "Is it wine?" she asked. "No," the boy replied. The teacher repeated the process, touching another drop of the leakage to her tongue. "Is it champagne?" she asked. "No," the boy replied. The teacher then said, "I give up, what is it?" The boy replied, "A puppy!" moreResolved Question: White people, did you know?
Do white people know that they once regarded that they once regarded either blacks in general or black men most handomest people in the world. The Greek author Herodotus says this while describing the Persian failed attempt to conquer Nubia. Herodotus says that blacks whom he called Ethiopians-which means burned faced, were regarded as the tallest and handsomest of men. This is the exact text here ", Cambyses, having told them what they were to say, forthwith despatched them into Ethiopia with these following gifts: to wit, a purple robe, a gold chain for the neck, armlets, an alabaster box of myrrh, and a cask of palm wine. The Ethiopians to whom this embassy was sent are said to be the tallest and handsomest men in the whole world. In their customs they differ greatly from the rest of mankind, and particularly in the way they choose their kings; for they find out the man who is the tallest of all the citizens, and of strength equal to his height, and appoint him to rule over them." Now I don't know if this statement was only referring to black men or to blacks in general because the term men and mankind are used to refer to men or to humans in general. I think it was only applied to black men. Futhermore Roman historian Pliny the Elder, satrists Juenal and Martial described situations of black men being used for sex. Futhermore there are macrophallic images of black men in Roman art moreVoting Question: Please answer my question about the three examples I have given?
Please let me know if my Mother In Law is being a b**ch in amy of the three scenarios below. Please just say yes or no, I am not asking for advice on my relationship w/ her. Would you consider her behavior b**chy or not? If you are a Mother In law you are biased so please don't answer. Thank you. 1. We had a lot of difficulty trying to conceive our 1st child. During this time I experienced a lot of stress at work and also at school (college). Hubby relayed this to mother-in-law. During this time (I was not yet pregnant), she sent me the book "Women Who Think Too Much"- no note, just the book. Given the extent of our relationship as described above, would you consider this rude and/or mean? 2. Once I got pregnant, she immediately sent a case of 12 wine bottles w/ a note that said "Congratulations! Love Mom and Dad". I've never called either of them "Mom" or "Dad", nor has she indicated that she wants me to do so. Thoughts on this? Felt like gift was for hubby only as I wouldn't be able to drink the stuff for months. My name wasn't on the box, only hubby's. 3. When 7 months pregnant w/ 2nd child she came to visit us from across country. Arrived day of our 5th anniversary and stayed for 3 days. Never wished me or hubby 'happy anniversary' (She knew it was our anniversary b/c she asked if she could come visit on day of our anniversary beforehand) and did not ask me one thing about the pregnancy (had not asked anything prior to the visit or afterwards either). In fact, when hubby called her right after I delivered to relay the news, all she had to say was 'Tell Mary to get well soon" (I had a C section).S you look like a mother in law. not trolling just trying to get you stupid ADD people to answer the question. The woman HUNG UP on me when asking for directions b/c she was impatient w/ me as I was trying to help her. Guess you think that is nice behavior. Hope you are treated just as poorly.DJ the fact that you looked to see what questions I've asked previously is a little scary. Busy much? Just trying to get people to directly answer my questions, not turn it into a soapbox on a broader topic that I didn't ask about- thus the need to ask several- not 7- times to get an answer to the actual question. moreVoting Question: What do you think? Mother In Law question....?
I've attempted to have a good relationship w/ my Mother In Law- tried to get to know her, sent her cards for birthdays, Mother's Day, etc. as well as sending gifts that I thought she would like. In return she doesn't ask anything about me or my family (her conversations are about what she and her family members are up to), doesn't say anything about the gifts/cards (she lives across country;her not saying anything makes me wonder if she even got them? I ask my hubby to ask her and she says she did and thanks him), and doesn't say anything on my birthday. She calls hubby and sometimes sends him stuff on his birthday. She's arranged 'birthday' gatherings monthly to celebrate birthdays of those in her large extended family, so it's clear that she acknowledges birthdays. So I'm under the impression that the woman doesn't like me. Given this, please tell me your thoughts on the following 3 things she's done: 1. In fact, when hubby called her right after I delivered to relay the news, all she had to say was 'Tell Mary to get well soon" (I had a C section). Thoughts on her behavior in this situation? She is very interested in our two kids, so it's not like she doesn't want to be a grandparent. My question is about her behavior in these 3 instances. Would you think any of what she has done is rude or purposefully mean? Not asking what to do about her, just trying to get clarification on her behavior, whether it is normal and thoughtful?HELLO I AM JUST ASKING IF WHAT SHE DID IN THE 3 EXAMPLES IS HER BEING A BITCH....NOT ASKING FOR ADVICE N HOW TO HANDLE HER.... moreResolved Question: I'm invited in a small party between friends.......?
I'm invited in a small party between some friends just to gather around for this festive season, now my question is: Do I take a small gift with me? And if yes like what?? I thought of getting a bottle of wine as a gift but well yeah I am underage to get them alcohol. Or maybe I thought a box of chocolate but I think it's too poor. So well I'm mixed, and I wish to take something to be polite and prudent. Thanks so much for all your ideas. But the thing is that i don't know everyone who is invited, i only know the person who invited me and maybe two friends of this person. Here’s a joke: On the teacher’s birthday, the students brought gifts for her. The florist’s daughter brought a bouquet of roses and the candy storeowner’s son gave the teacher a box of candies. What type of gift do I bring over to them? It is a big family gathering with his sisters and I have not met any of them .I have met his brother but he wont be there. I was married for 21 yrs before this and my in law(ex mother in law) turned on me so terribly that I really could care less about someone else being judgemental on me.( I put up with a drug abuser for years) Anyhow,my BF however is saying I really should go over considering we live together now and he (who also was married before for 17 yrs) and his 11 yr old go over on xmas eve. They all exchange gifts among the kids , neices and nephews and give gifts to the parents. So If I suck it up , what would be a small gift to bring to their house to his parents? They dont drink wine at all they drink manhattans only. I was thinking a box of harbor sweet chocolates. Do I really even have to go?My BF made it very clear to me 6 mos ago that he will never get married again so why do I have to meet them? moreVoting Question: Am I being ungrateful or am I right to be annoyed at this gift???!!?
Today I gave my neighbours their Christmas present. I got them a bottle of wine, a calendar and some rose petal soap things. I put on the card from myself and my husband. They gave me a pair of Tae-Kwon-Do gloves! I was really annoyed because they used to do heaps of Tae Kwon Do, I know they would have pulled them out of their closet as a 'last minute gift' and they even look a little worn like they have been used! I have NO desire to do Tae Kwon Do and have never expressed this. They explained that my husband 'did not get a gift because they didn't have gloves to fit him'!!! WTF!!! They are not poor either, I know they have money because they told me so the other day that they had extra cash. Am I right to be annoyed at this? I mean, I wouldn't care if they went down to the shops and got a $5 box of chocolates, anything is better than USED GLOVES!!! moreResolved Question: Should I just show up for dinner like a hungry twit with nothing to offer?

For Christmas I'm getting my gf a gift basket theme thing based on places she has connections to, I think i have some good main stuff but I definitely need some more small stuff to fill out the gift basket. My question: Do you think this a good enough gift from a boyfriend of about 6 months or do I need more 'big' stuff in this basket. Is this a good idea in general or should I scrap it and go another way? What little stuff can I throw in her to fill out the gift basket? Here's the main stuff I have so far: 1. A bottle of California Wine (because shes originally from the Bay Area in Cali, not far from wine country), 2. A box of her favorite Taiwanese food (these little meat/bread rolls) from her mother's hometown (her parents are from Taiwan) 3. A small framed poster of Paris with pink as its main color, and theres a close up of a girls high heeled shoes in it. Hard to explain, but Paris is her favorite city and she loves shoes (so does every girl, but she REALLY does). 4. She also loves Vegas, so I got her another framed poster of the famous Vegas sign (she has nothing on her walls in her apt so these posters are functional too). This poster is big, so it'll be separate from the actual 'basket'. The only other place I was thinking about using is Japan because shes sort of into the culture (not like the anime stuff or anything though). moreResolved Question: What are some ideas of baskets I could put together for Christmas gifts?
I need about 5 different baskets & I want them all to have a different theme. For my best friend & her boyfriend, I was thinking a 'movie night' theme: a bottle of wine, a few buckets of popcorn, a few boxes of candy & a movie i know they both like. For my cousin & her husband, I was thinking of a 'breakfast' theme: putting homemade dry pancake mix in a jar & putting a tag on it that says what it is & 'Just Add Water' & doing the same thing for biscuits & gravy..all breakfast things. Does anyone have any other ideas? I need one for my Mom & Stepfather- they enjoy going to the beach, they have a small beach house, they like grilling food & cooking, going out to eat. I need one for my Aunt & Uncle- I'm not sure of a theme for they're although I do know that my uncle really likes Halloween & Mickey Mouse & my Aunt likes lighthouses & snow globes (i think lol) And I want to have two extra baskets on hand just in case I get an unexpected gift from someone. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!! moreResolved Question: what can i put in this gift box?

I tried calling the store and the lady I spoke with said it must be black box but I know for a fact it is not a black box wine. OverConfidence !!!!! It was the end of the school year, and a kindergarten teacher was receiving gifts from her pupils. The florist's son handed her a gift. She shook it, held it overhead, and said, "I bet I know what it is. Flowers." "That's right!" the boy said, "But, how did you know?" "Oh, just a wild guess," she said. The next pupil was the sweet shop owner's daughter. The teacher held her gift overhead, shook it, and said, "I bet I can guess what it is. A box of sweets." "That's right, but how did you know?" asked the girl. "Oh, just a wild guess," said the teacher. The next gift was from the son of the liquor storeowner. The teacher held the package overhead, but it was leaking. She touched a drop off the leakage with her finger and put it to her tongue. "Is it wine?" she asked. "No," the boy replied, with some excitement. The teacher repeated the process, tasting a larger drop of the leakage. "Is it champagne?" she asked. "No," the boy replied, with more excitement. The teacher took one more big taste before declaring, "I give up, what is it?" With great glee, the boy replied, "It's a puppy!" I'm invited to a muslim wedding on the 19th. But the invitation says no boxed gifts because she doesn't want to end up with like 10 microwaves or anything, since she will be moving in with her husband to start a new life. My mom's original idea was to buy wine glasses but they all come in boxes! Any ideas on what I can get her that does not come in a box, something not being gift cards or anything? The bride is pretty young, 24 I think. I need as many ideas as possible, so please write many if you can. Thanks! moreResolved Question: How to live a simple life?
When I was younger, I had very little. I was very happy. Over the years I have acquired a lot of stuff. Nice things, When My sister moved to France she GAVE me everything she owned and started new. My entire home is furnished by Bombay co. and Zgallerie. My mom buys me things all the time, and I'm always receiving gifts. I so appreciate the generosity but my home is PACKED with stuff. I want to go back to my simple life. ( think, an IKEA model room.) but I've had these things so long and I don't even know where to start. I don't want feelings to get hurt but I am not happy having so much. My guest room is packed with things, still in boxes and unused furniture. like: A record player, a GTXpress 101 cooker, a bbq grill, a wine cooler ( fridge) a TV, tons of board games. It's just too much. Do I ask if they want things back? or do I donate them to the american cancer society thrift store? How to I start the process and how do I make sure I don't get out of control? Now my family are very upperclass posh socialites and look down on things that aren't up to par with their upbringings. Actually my parents aren't even comming to the wedding because they disapprove so much. They like expensive things, quality objects, and will be quick to point out how "tacky" something is. Tacky gifts are thrown out. My fiance's family are on the lower end of the financial spectrum, lower middle to lower class. I guess I would call them the country type, very simple, usually satisfied with just about anything and they are more into nostalgic items, hand made, more likely to put a wedding favor in a memory box or up on a display shelf no matter what it looks like. I want to find something that will satisfy my extended family and something that his family can appreciate. Im paying for the wedding myself so I don't want to go the expensive route. Ideas from his other family's wedding that were super liked. His Uncle and Aunt who got married last year gave out Heart shaped wine bottle stoppers. we use 3 of them regularly and keep another in a family keepsake box. Snow globe picture frames. Matchbooks (that we never use but keep). Clear Christmas orniments with bits of flowers and ribbons in it and the wedding date on them. my family likes things like expensive crystal candy jars, boxes of truffles, ornate candle votives..... moreVoting Question: Would you want to receive this gift? ...give this gift?
I'm about to move forward with my healthy gourmet gift basket business, and I'd like to know your thoughts - do I have a market? A fine selection of the following for eg.: tea, coffee, cookies, chocolates, all the pantry ingredients ie rice, beans, spices, sauces to make an Italian, Indian or Mexican meal, honey, pickles, antipasto, dried fruit, nuts - the selection goes on.... upon inspection you realize that all these goodies are all healthy -either low g.i., easy and slow to digest/process, gluten free, organic, sugar free, high protein, high fibre, low fat - whatever combo supports your healthy lifestyle. Your gift may also come with spa goodies, fruit, wine or gift certicates for in home services ie: cleaning co., mani pedi spa services, hair wash and set, btw: I'd like to offer useful containers ie: trays, boxes, bowls, hat boxes, decorative storage containers, white cake box towers and tote bags instead of the traditional baskets with the handles. What do you think? Would you want to receive this gift, give this gift? Your comments are appreciated. Thank you! Thanks so much for your answer and especially for the extra info and links - info is always good. moreResolved Question: Funny Joke...Star if you like :D?

Hi everyone- OI'm planning a surprise 50th Bday party for my husband, and his sister made a wise suggestion (it will be a dinner cruise for three hours on a Sat nite, and we/I only plan to pay for his siblings and spouses, but discount tickets are available if aditional family want to come- but I don't want to pay for them). the sis suggested since the party is in October (he's Halloween baby, but we're doing it the week before) to send a newsletter out informing family and friend sof it so they can plan, as well I'd lie to aske for any photos they have of him or funny memories I can put in a scrapbook as a group gift.....can anyone thing of anything else thaqt could be pertinent in the newsletter? I've been thinking of maybe a small trivia contest and the winner wins a prize (bottle of wine or candy maybe), or what sort of favors- he has a favorite truffle he loves, so I was thinking of buying truffle boxes and given them as favor to guest (favor boxes of two)...any help is greatly appreicated and in our family, nothing is too far off kilter- he and I are funeral directors, and we were marreid on October fri the 13th, so mordie is okay, but we'll be sharing this cruise ship with another 100ish people.I must not have worded the questions differently-- I will be paing for ourselves, his siblings and spouses and a few coworkers (a total between 40-50 people) the only part I'm talking about is the younger family members so far removed, adn given most are married with very small children (age limit is minimum ge 16). I'm just wondering if I should put things in like directions, that if they decided to pruchase drinks itt a cash bar (there are several siblings, fathe in law, and other in laws that are recovering alcoholics) moreResolved Question: Boyfriend's mum's birthday...?

It was the nursery teachers birthday and the students decided that they would each buy their teacher a gift. The first student, whose parents own a florist shop, gave her a present. She held it and said, "I guess that is some sweets." "How did you guess?" asked the little boy. She again laughed and thanked him also. The third student, whose parents own a wine outlet, gave her a box which was leaking. The teacher touched the liquid with her finger and tasted it. "Mmmmm is it wine?" she asked. I have just started making gift boxes and bundles aimed at females. For example a night in front of the box (DVD, popcorn, sweet goodies and drink) or pampering evening (Good book, bottle of wine, Bath goodies etc) all wrapped up and finished ready to go to the lucky recipient. They look fab and nobody need know you didn't make it yourself! My fiance is in the oil industry. He leaves for about 3 weeks and home for a month. So Basically, i see him every other month. When he comes home, I like to show him how much I love and missed him. Last month, he returned two days after his birthday. So I decided to throw him a romantic surprise birthday party. It was a private affair(just the two of us). I had about a hundred candles leading up stairs to the party. Balloons with streamers hanging from the ceilings, more candles, lots of flowers, a cake with sparklers, chocolate dipt strawberries, a table of fun(chocolate body paint, massage oil, truth or dare game, sexy dice, and other stuff), and his gift which was a large box with smaller boxes leading down to a ring box. In the ring box was a ring and a card expressing my love. I asked for his hand in marriage. Now i'm looking to do something else to wow him. I have a couple small ideas but need a main theme, i guess. The small ideas is to give him a strip dance(something he has wanted for a long time) and I bought everything needed for a sundae(I plan on being the dish). Any ideas for making this night come together as a procession in sensual and romantic things? I plan on cooking dinner and having an abundance of wine and candles! I feel like there is never enough things to do or say to fully express my love for him. Ladies, what have you done to wow your man? Guy's, what's some things that your woman could do to knock your socks off?!?!?!!? He will be home this weekend and i'm not looking to spend too much money. Ok, so there's this particular someone I like (we're not in a relationship yet but we've been on a few dates) and I'm wondering if this gift idea would be appropriate. She likes wine and just so happens my relatives own a vineyard so I was planning on giving her a bottle of their wine. Simple. But she doesn't have any wine glasses so I'd thought I'd throw in a few (she offered me wine in a tumbler once and I thought it looked pretty tacky). So my idea would be to give: wine wine glasses some flowers a card Do you think I should throw in a box of chocolates or are the above things enough? Romantic? Cliched? Too old-fashioned? Let me know. moreResolved Question: Creative Valentine's Day Gift Ideas?
I have been searching for a creative way to deal with VDay, and would like inspiration from others. Since both my significant other and I drink wine, I was going to go with a personalized bottle of wine with an etched box. There are several places out there that do that kind of thing, but not many with nice rated wines from different appellations, anyone know who the best is for that? Any ideas are welcome, as I have not made any kind of final decision, and I appreciate all opinions. Also, I think I may have found a really nice wine company that does the whole "personal" touch thing, anyone that wants to know is free to ask me. Take care, and thank you all. moreResolved Question: Importing food for personal use in Japan?
